Become neutrally buoyant!
What is neutral buoyancy? Scuba divers like to be neutrally buoyant so that they neither sink nor float. It can be tricky though. Divers who’ve mastered the highest performance levels in buoyancy stand apart. You’ve seen them underwater, gliding effortlessly, using less air and ascending, descending or hovering as if by thought alone.
Would you like to be able to interact gently with aquatic life without disturbing their surroundings? You can achieve this by improving your buoyancy skills.
What you will learn
Part of mastering buoyancy control is learning how to use your BCD and weight system effectively, plus maintain streamlining. During this course you will learn:
- How to trim your scuba gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water
- Nuances in determining weight so you’re not too light nor too heavy by even a slight degree
- How to streamline to save air and move smoothly through the water
- How to hover effortlessly in both a vertical position and a horizontal position
What you will need
It’s best to use your own scuba equipment, including a weight system, so that you fine-tune your buoyancy in gear you’ll use on every dive. Your PADI Instructor can assist you to find the equipment that is best for you and your diving adventures.
To enrol in Peak Performance Buoyancy course you will need to have a PADI Open Water Diver certification and be a minimum of 10 years old.
